We support UNHCR in Ukraine
The crisis in Ukraine is urgent and the effects are devastating. Since Russia’s brutal attack on 24 February 2022, 14 million people have been forced to flee from their homes. More than 7 million people have fled the country- almost all are women and children.
This is the largest refugee crisis since the second world war. Civilians are suffering violence, bombs and fear spending days and nights in emergency shelters.
At least 800,000 homes have been destroyed, leaving millions of people without a home, protection and safety. As winter is now approaching with low temperatures, the situation will further worsen for people with destroyed homes. For many it’s not an option to flee due to insecurity, destroyed infrastructure and lack of information on where to go.
Every gift makes a difference to vulnerable families who find themselves in a life-threatening situation. That is why we cooperate with UNHCR. If you shop with us during Black Week, you donate 15% of the amount directly to UNHCR.
UNHCR in Ukraine
UNHCR distributes water, repair damaged homes, provide supplies to protect against the cold such as blankets, sleeping bags and winter clothes. Families receive cash assistance enabling them to cover basic needs. Elderly people are being helped to a safe place to stay. Children are given psychosocial support to let them be children for a while and start healing their trauma.
Despite full scale warfare, UNHCR and our UN partners have provided protection, emergency aid, food and cash assistance to more than 13 million people in Ukraine. This wouldn’t have been possible without the solidarity and generosity shown by private persons, companies, foundations and associations in Sweden.
